BRIEF 14 - TDR - WORKSHOP APPLICATION

Ian Anderson of the Designers Republic was coming in to run a workshop with us. Before we could attend the workshop, however, we had to submit some work and then he would choose who he wanted to attend the workshop.

The brief was to design something he would want to keep forever.

As we had a very short turn around time for this brief, so I did some research and came up with some initial ideas. I also looked back to the talk he did that I attended in first year for inspiration :

Sheffield

Human League
Cabaret Voltare
Clock DVA
Vice Verca

Communicating ideas

Design is for a reason

Escaped the South East

Could make it selfishly about me, not him?

Asking questions

Trying to reinvent the wheel

Effectively solving problems

Terminology of designer
- Dessiner
- Grand designers

Everything can be turned around

Cultivate clients

Information should be achieved not given

SCAN NOTES

I came up with some initial poster designs from my research, experimenting with various different layouts and typographical formats.

I had originally thought that I wanted a full black poster with white text, however, once I had designed these I wanted to take make favourite designs and see how they would look with black text on white stock. This would also allow me to print on coloured stock if i wanted to.
