BRIEF 13 - THREAD - BUSINESS CARD DESIGNS

As part of the magazine we also needed the business side to the company. As a basis for this and to give us something to give to perspective companies, I created some business card designs.

I used the same logo and typefaces that I had used in the first mock up of the magazine.

I wanted to use the dynamics of the logo on the business card. As the logo comes in two parts, I thought it appropriate to split them over the two sides of the card. I think this works aesthetically as the two obviously fit together but there is also some ambiguity to the layout. The key information was the same on each side of the business card so that whatever side you looked at you could read the important information.

This was a much more simple design, using the whole logo on one side and centrally aligning the key information on the other. The white on black is quite striking but I do not personally think it is as effective. I also like the combination of both typefaces as opposed to using just one.

From the designs I had done and the feedback I had from members of the group and my peers I created another alternative 'front' to the business card. I scaled down the whole logo so that it could be mirrored on the reverse and still leave space for the information. I chose black on white as I thought it was timeless and the most effective.

I produced three variations of the reverse. Each variation has the linear element of the logo positioned in the same place as the full logo on the 'front'. I then laid out the important information out in various different ways. I preferred the layout with the information vertically placed at either side of the lines as it is more interesting, unusual and distinctive.

I also really like the combination of both typefaces on the business card.

I have proposed all ideas to the group and I am awaiting a decision.
