BRIEF 04 - SOMETHING MORE - INITIAL IDEAS AND DEVELOPMENT

My initial approach was to write down what my initial thoughts and ideas of a library were.

I wanted to change the existing conception of a library and turn it into something modern, contemporary and a place to experience information.

With this in mind I began to focus my ideas together:

I started by writing down all the words I deemed relevant and appropriate to both the concept and the design.

I then began thinking of a possible name for the library. I started researching into gods and goddesses for inspiration. As my concept was to create a contemporary creative library I focused my research on the gods and goddesses of knowledge, wisdom and the arts.

Apollo is the Greek and Roman got of arts and knowledge respectively. This seemed like a perfect foundation for a name, however I was not fully keen on it. The name slightly reminded me of a takeaway or a taxi company. In an aim to move away from this is dropped the 'ap' and just decided to use the 'ollo'. It sounds like an interesting, creative and independent establishment, exactly what I was aiming for.

As I was thinking through ideas I began to sketch possible logos. 

I also noted down all the designing I would need to do for the library as a creative space, a business and the coffee shop that I wanted to be part of the project.
