BRIEF 05 - END OF YEAR SHOW - POSTCARD DESIGN AND MOCKUPS

We also wanted to design some other printed ephemera to present to the client. We decided to design a selection of postcards that could be used to promote the even and also distributed at the event.

As I still wanted to use the hand drawn / written element in the project, I thought this was a perfect opportunity. I came up with a concept that involved the interaction of the students who would be exhibiting work at the show.

The concept involved the postcards being printed with the words 'WE ARE' in green and then the other important information in black. The cards would then be distributed to all Level 06 students, who would be asked to right what they thought 'we are'. This would make the show varied and much more personal to the students exhibiting. The cards would have to be vetoed by marketing to ensure only appropriate cards were distributed.

To illustrate this I wrote a selection of possible things the Level 06 students might write:

These were then digitised, again using Illustrator, and added to the postcard design.

I also tried the designs with the colours flipped so that all the printed text was black and the written text was green. This would not work as the students would not be able to draw on the black in the green. This was not a problem as it did not look as effective anyway.

After I had designed the postcards, Sam mocked them up for presentation, adding the Leeds College of Art logo.
