After researching thoroughly into the subject I began to jot down some initial ideas and concept proposals.
My initial ideas started with how the fragrance should be named, what the bottle shape should be and how the packaging should work.
I made some early design decisions in that the colours should be black and white and that the photographs should fit a specific style and also be in black and white.
We were given the fonts from the brand guidelines.
I was beginning to think about how the layout should work and again thinking about the name of the fragrance
I also thought about what we needed to produce for the project.
I also noted down some key features from the brief and key elements of the Whistles ethos.
Next time I made notes on the brief J'nae and I had a better understanding of what we wanted to do with the brief. We thought about focusing on the chemistry between the man and women - informed by our research - however, this was an idea we did not focus on but it came through with the way the project developed.
Again we were discussing bottle shape and size to find the one that we thought most applicable to the Whistles ethos, as well as what we could purchase in time to shoot and design for submission.
We also listed the range of all the possible products and ephemera we could think of doing for the project.
Some design decisions were also finalised. Informed by the Whistles brand guidelines, we made the decision to have the campaign and designs in black and white, the fragrances were just to be called 'man' and 'woman' to be in-keeping with the brands minimal aethetic and ethos but also referencing the brands British heritage.
A decision was made to only produce one campaign combining both fragrances. The campaign would still show the individual qualities of the Whistles Man and Whistles Woman but also show the connection between the two under one brand ethos.
We also decided that we wanted to produce a promotional video for the campaign, combining footage from the shoot, behind the scenes and location shots.
